Political Behavior

Unit Overview:

This unit carries on from the unit on political attitudes to understand where political behaviors come from. To prepare for this students participated in reading and discussion and created presentations. Each presentation analyzed a current event to determine the causes and effects of a particular political behavior.

Personal Unit Overview: What did you achieve this unit?

In this unit, I've learned a lot more about politics and what they entail. I've learned about the different political attitudes and cultures and how they might merge and be shared with each other. I've also learned about the different types of political behavior, either conventional or unconventional.

Enduring Understandings: How do political behaviors affect society?

: Political behaviors can affect society in so many ways. For example, people voting for a president or a prime minister determines the future of their country by choosing the people that would be in control of the government. Another example is when people form a mob to protest against the government's policies. This would most likely cause an unrest throughout society.

Area of strength: Which standard was your strength and why?

My strength in this unit is analyzing and describing the causes and effects of citizen participation in state affairs because it is challenging and I enjoy being involved in deep discussions about things that aren't easy to grasp. As a result, I tend to understand central ideas quickly and that's why it's my strength.

Area of growth: Which standard needs improvement and how can you improve for the future?

: My weakness is that I'm sometimes confused by the specific political vocabulary because they seem to have very similar definitions to me. So to improve this, I have to study them more thoroughly and find examples to help me understand them more.
