State & Democracy
What is a state?
A state is a community which is under the control of a single government, and has a territory, people, as well as sovereignty. Ideally, the people in a state should have the same cultural background, language, and etc. But that is no longer possible considering the amount of immigrations all around the world.
Why is democracy such a popular form of government?
Democracy is a popular form of government because it’s proven, though arguably, to be the most effective, and just system of governing and controlling people by far. This is because all citizens of a state supposedly have a say in how their state is being run.
How does what we learned connect to the real world?
From what I’ve learned, I was able to come to a different conclusion about my own country’s democracy. I now know the exact attributes of a true democracy, which has let me to understand that Thailand does not necessary follow every single one of them, which means that it is not a true democracy. From this conclusion, it’s lead me to think about why Thailand isn’t a true democracy further: my current reason is mainly corruption.
Do you live in a democracy essay - For me, the essay about whether or not my country is a democracy is the most challenging in this unit. The reason is nothing but the usual, which is find that organizing my thoughts, as well as my sources, are still difficult and somewhat confusing. However, I find it beneficial because by writing an essay, it helps improve my weaknesses.
